Powow are a national renewable energy platform that specialises in VPP software and tech solutions as well as bespoke finance and energy plans.

Powow provide the tools and resources for their partners to move away from traditional solar-only sales and off-the-shelf solutions.

This case study explores how Powow partnered with Think Renewable to accelerate battery adoption and VPP participation, overcoming market challenges and driving greater value for customers.

The challenge

When identifying partners, Powow prioritises long-term collaborations where both parties align strategically and add real value. Entering the rapidly evolving VPP and battery market presents unique challenges, but also an opportunity to be industry front-runners.

Powow needed a partner who could effectively educate the market on the benefits of battery storage and VPP participation while driving customer adoption.

The search for a solution

Through ongoing discussions with Think Renewable, it became clear that a VPP partnership would be mutually beneficial. Think Renewable’s strong presence in the solar retail sector, combined with Powow’s advanced VPP solutions, aligned perfectly with both companies’ long-term strategic goals.

The timing was right to collaborate, leveraging Think Renewable’s expertise in customer engagement and education to accelerate the adoption of battery storage and VPP solutions across Australia.

The solution

By partnering with Powow, Think Renewable played a key role in shifting consumer perceptions and increasing battery adoption. The partnership focused on:

Customer acquisition – Signing customers to the VPP program

  • Market expansion – driving increased exposure in key regions, including Queensland, to enhance awareness and adoption of Powow’s VPP solutions.
  • Customer incentives – implementing marketing strategies that provided additional incentives for customers to join a VPP, complementing existing government subsidies.
  • Consumer awareness – educating the market on the benefits of battery storage and VPP participation, positioning it as the smarter alternative to sending excess solar energy back to the grid for minimal returns.
  • Product focus – centering collaboration around solar batteries and VPP.

The results

Since partnering with Think Renewable, Powow has seen increased overall market share as well as a stronger presence in the Queensland market. The partnership has generated almost 400 sales, and over 330 customer sign-ups to the Powow VPP program. Looking ahead, both companies are committed to taking these achievements even further in 2025.

The future

The collaboration between Powow and Think Renewable represents a significant step towards a cleaner, more efficient energy future. As battery adoption and VPP participation continue to grow, this partnership will play a crucial role in shaping the next phase of Australia’s renewable energy landscape.

Switching To Solar Energy Is Quicker And More Affordable Than Ever Before.

Homeowners in Australia are currently choosing to pay to have a solar system installed, instead of paying those ever-increasing energy bills. If you own your own home, it only makes sense to produce your own energy!
