What made you make the switch to solar?
We’ve got five people in the house, plus a big pool and air conditioning, so the electricity usage has always been high. The pool and air con definitely pump a lot of power. I’d been thinking about going solar for years and years but just hadn’t taken the leap.
Then one afternoon, there was a random knock at the door, and it was Think Renewable. The guys were great. The guys were really nice, explained everything clearly, and didn’t pressure me. It just made sense.
What was your experience with Think Renewable like?
Honestly, the process couldn’t have been simpler. Everything was handled smoothly. The install went without a hitch, and the team were really professional. I felt confident in their hands from start to finish.
What products did you purchase from Think Renewable?
We got a 13kW solar system, made up of 32 Suntech panels and a Sunways inverter. It powers everything we need at home.
Can you tell us about your energy bills before and after switching to solar?
We were ecstatic when we saw our first bill come through. Before solar, we were paying around $1,900 per quarter for electricity. With a big household, we were going through a lot of power.
After switching to solar, we’re now paying about $900 per quarter. That’s a saving of $1,000 every quarter, which adds up fast. Over 10 years, we’re forecasting around $40,000 in savings. It’s a huge difference.
What impact have the savings had?
The savings have taken a lot of pressure off. We’re now planning a family trip to New Zealand to visit relatives, something we couldn’t have done before. It makes living easy. It makes me feel safe, it makes me feel more confident.
What would you tell someone considering solar?
If I could go back and talk to myself a year ago, before the install, I’d be saying, you have to do this and you have to do this now,because the difference is massive.
I’ve already told my neighbours about it, and they’ve now had solar installed through Think Renewable as well. When something works this well, it’s easy to recommend.
